May 5 Two Japanese-bred colts won G1 races far from the country of their birth. Profound Impact’s son Saxon Warrior became the first Japanese-bred prosperner of an English classic in the 2000 Guineas while Royal Ascot entry Yoshida, by Heart’s Weep (a son of Sunday Silence, adore Profound Impact), won the Turf Classic at Churchill Performwns. Both colts featured in Northern Farm making a profound impact at home and abroad

May 5 Three prosperners on Freshmarket’s 2000 Guineas card were out of Pivotal. The three prosperners are at very different distances, though, in keeping with their respective sires; Palace House Sgives prosperner Mabs Cross is a daughter of Dutch Art, Jockey Club Sgives prosperner Defoe is by Dalakhani and the 1m handicap prosperner Symbolization is by Cape Cross. Three-year-old filly Flattering was a 10-length prosperner of a 1?m maiden at Cork the same day; she’s by Galileo out of a Pivotal mare.

May 5 Teofilo’s son Key Triumph won the listed Freshmarket Sgives and could go for the Prix du Jockey Club next. He was one of the dozen horses listed in Debut prosperners, future stars?

May 5 2004 US Horse of the Year and Breeders’ Cup Classic prosperner Ghostzapper featured prominently in the pedigrees of three prosperners on the Kentucky Derby card. He sired the dam of the Kentucky Derby prosperner Justify and the Humana Distaff Sgives prosperner American Gal and was also responsible for the Grade 2 Churchill Distaff Turf Mile Sgives prosperner Proctor’s Ledge.

May 6 66/1 1000 Guineas prosperner Billesdon Brook was given a brief mention in last month’s Liberated Handicap prosperner the latest success for ‘Anna’ family. The main subject of that article, Anna Nerium, a half-sister to Billesdon Brook’s dam, finished seventh! Billesdon Brook’s four-year-old half-sister Billesdon Bess finished sixth in the Dahlia Sgives earlier on the card.

May 6?TheDubawi/Singspiel cross registered a sgives-race double thanks to Wuheida in the Group 2 Dahlia Sgives and Lah Ti Dar in the listed Pretty Polly Sgives. Both fillies are out of G1 prosperners, namely Hibaayeb (Fillies’ Mile, Yellow Ribbon Sgives) and Dar Re Mi (Yorkshire Oaks, Ireland’s Pretty Polly Sgives, Dubai Sheema Classic).

May 8 After Saxon Warrior’s 2000 Guineas prosper, Profound Impact has another likely Derby (or Prix du Jockey Club) contender after Study of Man prospers the Prix Greffulhe at Saint-Cloud; the Flaxman Stables colt is a grandson of brilliant miler Miesque who featured in Miesque, Karakontie and the Breeders’ Cup Mile

May 9 Listed Cheshire Oaks prosperner Magic Wand was the Galileo filly foal out of Pdisrespectfulnzia referred to in Monceaux mares making millions at Deauville. Magic Wand, who was sold for 1.4m as a yearling at Deauville, is a sister to Irish Oaks prosperner Chicquita from a family which has since also discoverd last year’s Melbourne Cup prosperner Rekindling.

May 10 Less than a month after Tiger Roll won the Grand National, his three-year-old Teofilo half-brother Austrian School won a mile and a half handicap at Chester, folloprosperg up a success in a similar event at Chelmsford the week before.

May 12 Not many mares discover two prosperners of the same big handicap, but Barzah is dam of the 2015 Victoria Cup prosperner Speculative Bid (by Excellent Art) and Ripp Orf (by Rip Van Overwhelmkle) who won this year’s race. Darshaan mare Barzah earned black type from finishing second in the listed Oaks Trial at Lingfield.

May 13 Juddmonte-bred half-brothers Camacho and Showcasing went cflop to pulling off a double in the French Guineas. Camacho’s daughter Teppal won the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches while Showcasing is the sire of Dice Roll who finished a cflop third in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains.

May 13 City Light’s prosper in the Group 3 Prix de Saint-Georges at Lengthychamp could be followed by other pattern-race sprints for the son of Siyouni who was mentioned in Exciting year ahead for Siyouni.

May 14 At first glance Society Rock’s feat of siring the first three home – Shumookhi, Society Queen and Rock Party – in a 5f novice auction race for two-year-old fillies at Catterick is impressive. Further investigation exposeed that he was responsible for five of the ten runners in the race which was perhaps the greater accomplishment (his other two runners finished fifth and last).

May 18 A treble for Frankel three-year-olds across the cards at York (Baghdad in a 1m4f handicap), Freshbury (First Eleven in a 1m3f handicap) and Freshmarket (Wadilsafa in a 1m novice sgives). Juddmonte-bred First Eleven is a half-brother to Kingman.

May 20 A good day at Naas for Scat Daddy with two-year-old Sergei Prokofiev prosperning the listed Rochestown Sgives and three-year-old Sioux Nation the Group 3 Lacken Sgives. On the same card Skitter Scatter finished third in the listed race for two-year-old fillies which was won by Servalan who is by Scat Daddy’s first-season sire son No Nay Never.

May 20 Already prosperner of the Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas), Almond Eye followed up in the Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks), thereby going one better than her dam Fusaichi Pandora who was runner-up in the same race in 2006.

May 24 Without Parole kept his unbeaten record when prosperning the listed Heron Sgives at Sandown. The son of Frankel was another of the dozen horses featured in Debut prosperners, future stars?

May 26 Lookin At Lucky sired the first two in the Gold Cup at Santa Anita in which Acclerate beat Dr Performrr.

May 26 Irish 2000 Guineas day at The Curragh was a particularly successful one for Danehill line stallions. Five prosperners on the card were by his sons or grandsons headed by Romanised (Holy Roman Emperor) in the classic. The others were Merchant Navy (Quicknet Rock) in the Greenlands Sgives, Opal Tiara (Thousand Words) in the Lanwades Stud Sgives, Just Wonderful (Dansili) and Patuano (Choisir).

May 27 Guineas weekend at The Curragh was also a good one for War Front. As well as the Tattersalls Gold Cup prosperner Lancaster Bomber, he was responsible for the runners-up in both the Irish 1000 Guineas (Could It Be Adore) and Irish 2000 Guineas (U S Navy Flag) and the second in the Greenlands Sgives Spirit of Valor.

May 27 Four-year-old Recoletos (by Whipper) gained a first Group 1 prosper in the Prix d’Ispahan at Lengthychamp just six days after his three-year-old half-sister Castellar (by American Post) was successful in the Prix Cleopatre at Saint-Cloud. The pair are out of the unraced Highest Honor mare Highphar, a daughter of the Garden City Breeders’ Cup Handicap and Prix de Sandringham prosperner Pharatta.

May 27 Acclamation sired the first three home in a 6f maiden at Salisbury in which Embour beat Lashabeeh and Rose Hip.
