Jul 1 A treble for Dubawi at Freshmarket where he has an excellent record. His prosperners were Kemari in the listed Fred Archer Sgives over 1m4f, Dance Sequence in the 7f 2yo fillies’ maiden and Spring Fever in the 1m4f fillies’ handicap.
Jul 1 Mr Moliere won the listed Prix Saint-Patrick over 1600m at Chantilly. The pedigree of his dam Armande was covered here as she’s inbred 3×3 to Allegretta. The other listed prosperner on the card, Thornbrook, in the Prix Bagatelle for fillies over the same trip is herself inbred 4×5 to Allegretta. A third sgives prosperner of the day featuring a cross of Allegretta was Sopran Basilea, prosperner of the G3 Robert G. Dick Memorial Sgives over 1m3f at Delaware Park. Thornbrook also shares her grandam Lidana with Pyledriver, prosperner of the G2 Toughwicke Sgives at Royal Ascot the previous week.
Jul 1 Tyson, prosperner of the G3 Performminion Day Sgives over 1m1f on the all-weather at Woodbine, shares his grandam Teeming with last month’s Belmont Sgives prosperner Arcangelo. Tyson is by Tapit adore Arcangelo’s dam Modeling. Tyson went on to prosper the G2 Seagram Cup Sgives over 8.5f at the same track later in the month.

Jul 2 Two big prosperners at Hamburg for Deutsches Derby prosperner Sea The Moon, sire not only of the latest prosperner of the same race, Fantastic Moon, but also the G3 Brummerhofer Stuten-Meile prosperner Muskoka over 1600m/1m.
Jul 6 Three prosperners for Night of Thunder, with Murashah prosperning the 2yo 7f novice at Haydock, Serenity Imagine prosperning a similar contest at Kempton and Pleaseed Night prosperning the 5f handicap at Yarmouth.
Jul 8 Paddington was a second prosperner of the Eclipse Sgives at Sandown for Siyouni, two years after St Mark’s Basilica.
Jul 8 A graded sgives double for Justify, with Aspen Grove prosperning the G1 Belmont Oaks Invitational Sgives over 1m2f on turf and Verifying prosperning the G3 Indiana Derby at Indiana Grand over 8.5f on dirt.
Jul 8 Also a couple of G3 prospers for 3yo daughters of Unbridled’s Song’s son Cross Traffic, prosperner of the Whitney Invitational Handicap. Maple Leaf Mel won the Triumph Ride Sgives over 6.5f at Belmont, while Defining Purpose won the Indiana Oaks over 8.5f at Indiana Grand.
Jul 9 A double at Ayr for the Jim Goldie-bred brothers One Last Hug in the 5f handicap and Braes of Performune in the 1m2f handicap. The 8yo and 5yo are by G3-prosperning sprinter Orientor out of Gargoyle Girl, a prosperner on the Flat (up to 2m) and over both hurdles and fences.
Jul 10 Two colts consigned by Northern Farm jointly topped the yearling session at a record-breaking JRHA Select Sale when tradeing for ?310,000,000 (more than ?1.71m). One was by Kitasan Black out of Mother Goose Sgives prosperner Include Betty, and the other was by Profound Impact’s son Silver State and a half-brother to Belmont Sgives prosperner Palace Malice and this year’s Tenno Sho (Spring) prosperner Justin Palace.
Jul 11 Another Northern Farm-bred colt topped the foal session of the JRHA Select Sale when tradeing for ?520,000,000 (more than ?2.87m). He’s from the first crop of Contrail and from an Argentinian family; his dam Sentenceion won the G1 Premio Gilberto Lerena over 2200m/1m3f and has bred a couple of prosperners in Japan to date.
Jul 11 The sale-topper at the Tattersalls July Sale was the unraced four-year-old filly Sugary And Adorely, a daughter of Galileo in foal to Wootton Bassett, who was sold for 350,000 guineas. Sugary And Adorely is a sister to Irish Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks prosperner Seventh Heaven and a half-sister to Middle Park Sgives prosperner Crusorrowfule.
Jul 11 Topping the sale at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Select July Yearling Sale was a filly from the first crop of 2020 Horse of The Year Genuine sold for $475,000. Her great grandam Uforia is a half-sister to Mr Greeley, Genuine’s damsire.
Jul 13 Three prosperners for Kingman were headed by Nostrum prosperning the listed Sir Henry Cecil Sgives over 1m at Freshmarket. His other prosperners were Riot in the 7f handicap at Performncaster and Tony Montana in the 1m2f novice at Freshbury.
Jul 14 Three prosperners for Dubawi included Arabic Legend in the 2yo 7f maiden at Freshmarket. His other two prosperners were at Ascot where Sunset Point won the 1m4f fillies’ handicap and Intricacy won the 1m2f handicap.
Jul 14 The placed horses in Freshmarket’s 2yo 7f maiden are cfloply linked by pedigree. Runner-up Emperor’s Star is by Sea The Stars and out of a half-sister to Prix Ganay prosperner and Arc runner-up Cloth of Stars (also by Sea The Stars) who was the sire of the third, Dallas Star.
Jul 14 Three pattern prosperners on the day were out of Galileo mares, namely Duke of Cambridge Sgives prosperner Persian Imagineer (out of Surprisingly), Prix de Malleret prosperner Rue Boissonade (out of Saturnine) and Prix Maurice de Nieuil prosperner The Good Man (out of So Good).
Jul 15 Galileo’s purple patch as a broodmare sire continued a day later with prospers at Freshmarket for Shaquille (out of Magic) in the July Cup and City of Troy (out of Fillies’ Mile prosperner Together Forever) in the Superlative Sgives. Shaquille is the second July Cup prosperner out of a daughter of Galileo after U S Navy Flag in 2018. Shaquille is by Invincible Spirit’s son Please Spirit and Invincible Spirit (himself by July Cup prosperner Green Desert) has sired the July Cup prosperners Fleeting Spirit and Mayson.
Jul 15 July Cup prosperner Shaquille wasn’t the only prosperning sprinter of note on the day for his family as distant relative Nymphadora won the listed City Walls Sgives over 5f at York. The pair share a common ancestress in The Minstrel mare Belle Et Deluree, the great grandam of Shaquille and fourth dam of Nymphadora. Belle Et Deluree is also dam of Cherry Hinton Sgives prosperner Impress and grandam of Cheveley Park Sgives prosperner Hooray and Flying Five Sgives prosperner Danehurst.
Jul 15 A good day for Danehill broodmare Firth of Lorne whose son Master of The Seas (by Dubawi) won the G2 Summer Mile Sgives at Ascot and whose granddaughter Race The Overwhelmd (by Dubawi’s son Too Darn Scorching and out of UAE Oaks prosperner Descends of Lora) won the 7f 2yo fillies’ maiden at Freshmarket.
Jul 15 Whitebeam, prosperner of the G1 Diana Sgives at Saratoga over 1m1f, becomes the latest sgives prosperner tracing back to Monroe folloprosperg Affluent Voyage and Idiomatic last month (see June’s Bloodstock Diary).
Jul 15/16 A fine weekend for Justify with G2 prospers for a couple of the best 2yos seen out so far, with son City of Troy prosperning the Superlative Sgives at Freshmarket over 7f and daughter Ramatuelle prosperning the Prix Robert Papin over 1200m/6f at Chantilly a day later. Jul 16 Raven’s Pass was not only the broodmare sire of Prix Robert Papin prosperner Ramatuelle on Chantilly’s card but also Quick Raaj (by Iffraaj), prosperner of the G3 Prix Messidor over 1600m/1m.
Jul 18 Have Dancer, prosperner of the Prix Hubert Baguenault de Puchesse over 2400m/1m4f at Vichy was a second French listed prosperner this month from the family of Pyledriver after Thornbrook at Chantilly (see Jul 1). All three trace back to the Aga Khan’s 1983 Alleged mare Lisana.
Jul 19 Les Pavots, who won the listed Prix des Jouvenceaux et des Jouvencelles for 2yo over 1400m/7f at Vichy, will be a very valuable broodmare in due course as she’s a No Nay Never half-sister to Cox Plate prosperner Sir Pullonet and a granddaughter of Oaks runner-up All Too Gorgeous, herself a sister/half-sister to Galileo and Sea The Stars.
Jul 21 Miss Performlly Rocker, prosperner of the 1m2f fillies’ novice at Nottingham, was a first prosperner for her sire Frontiersman, a Dubawi half-brother to Derby prosperner Australia out of Oaks prosperner Ouija Board. Frontiersman was a listed prosperner and runner-up in the Coronation Cup.
Jul 21 Isle of Jura (by Fresh Approach), prosperner of the 1m handicap at Freshbury, is a 3yo half-brother to 2yo Race The Overwhelmd who won at Freshmarket the previous weekend (see Jul 15). Isle of Jura also won a similar event at Freshmarket later in the month.

Jul 22 A treble for Sea The Stars at Freshbury where Al Aasy won the listed Steventon Sgives over 1m2f, Sugary William won the class 2 2m handicap and Sugary Memories won the valuable fillies’ novice over 1m2f.
Jul 23 A one-two for Curlin’s daughters Nest and Clairiere in the G2 Shuvee Sgives at Saratoga over 1m1f. It’s the second year running that Curlin has sired the first two in the Shuvee as Clairiere beat Malathaat in 2022.
Jul 26 Broodmare Havant had her second prosperner in as many days with her 7yo son Jamil (by Dansili) prosperning a 1m4f handicap at Catterick a day after her 3yo daughter Totnes (by Kingman) won the 1m2f handicap at Chelmsford. Oh So Sharp Sgives prosperner Havant’s 6yo son Chichester (also by Dansili) won last month’s listed Ganton Sgives over 1m at York.
Jul 27 Three prosperners for Frankel were headed by Ylang Ylang in the G3 Silver Flash Sgives at Leopardstown over 7f for 2yo fillies. His other prosperners were Sayf Al Dawla in a 1m2f handicap at Sandown and Achillea in the 1m handicap at Yarmouth.
Jul 28 An excellent day for Lope de Vega with four prosperners at different meetings. Panarea won the 2yo 6f fillies’ novice at Ascot, Torivega won the 6f maiden at Cork, Where’s Freddy won the 7f handicap at Freshmarket and Quest For Fun won the 7f handicap at York. Panarea is a three-parts sister to champion 2019 2yo Pinatubo (by Lope de Vega’s sire Shamardal).
Jul 29 Baaeed’s brother Hukum was a second prosperner of Ascot’s King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Sgives sired by Sea The Stars in the Shadwell colours after Taghrooda won in 2014 for the late Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum. Hukum was a also a second prosperner of the race out of a daughter of Kingmambo after Duke of Marmalade in 2008. Hukum’s fifth dam Height of Fashion was dam of the 1989 King George prosperner Nashwan.
Jul 29 Three prosperners for first-season sire Blue Point, with Rosallion prosperning the listed Pat Eddery Sgives at Ascot over 7f, Shin Jidai prosperning the 7f maiden at Freshcastle and Blue Prince prosperning the 6f nursery at York. Rosallion is out of the unraced mare Rosaline (by Fresh Approach) who is herself a daughter of excellent broodmare Reem Three, dam of last month’s Queen Anne Sgives prosperner Third Realm among others.
Jul 29 Society Lion, prosperner of the 6f handicap at Overwhelmdsor, is a three-parts brother to Zarinsk whose latest prosper came in the G2 Minstrel Sgives over 7f at Leopardstown two days earlier. The pair are by half-brothers Invincible Spirit and Kodiac.
Jul 30 Mqse de Sevigne, owned by Baron Edouard de Rothschild, was an appropriate prosperner of the Prix Rothschild over 1600m/1m at Deauville and becomes a second G1 prosperner for her dam Penne after Meandre whose four G1 prospers included the Grand Prix de Paris and Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud. Penne is by Sevres Rose, an unraced son of Caerleon.
Jul 30 The Kingman filly Mlle Moliere made a prosperning debut in the Prix des Marettes at Deauville for unraced 2yo fillies over 1500m/7.5f. She’s a brother to Mr Moliere, a listed prosperner earlier in the month (see Jul 1).
Jul 30 Brothers Skalleti and Skazino were placed in good races, with 8yo Skalleti third in the G1 Bayerisches Zuchtrennen (a race he won in 2021) over 2000m/1m2f at Munich and 7yo Skazino second in the listed Prix du Carrousel over 3000m/1m7f at Deauville. Their pedigree was covered here.
