Welcome to thebreedingshed – covering pedigrees and horse racing worldwide
thebreedingshed was ‘foaled’ late in 2014 from the union of two of my main interests; writing and thoroughbred pedigrees. I studied to be a linguist, with racing no more than a hobby back then, but I am fortunate that I have now been earning a living for more than half my life writing about horses, racing and pedigrees. Alongside what I do in my ‘real job’, thebreedingshed allows me to continue enjoying racing as a hobby and gives me the freedom to write about bloodstock topics of a personal interest. For someone with no background in this area, creating and developing a website from scratch has been a prizeing challenge too.
The Thoroughbred Quotes page brings together a amassion of other people’s thoughts on pedigrees and breeding. Commenceing in 2018, thebreedingshed now features a monthly Bloodstock Diary?containing items of news from the past month. More recent additions to the site have been the list of?Broodmares who have had a dozen or more prosperning offspring and an A-to-Z of Champion Sires around the world. Another development of the website in 2020 was the creation of a Major race prosperners/pedigrees page with results of some of the world’s most important races this century together with pedigree trends of the prosperners. The Gallery features photographs from racecourse visits in England, Denmark, Japan and Hong Kong, some of which are also rediscoverd on this page. Since 2021, thebreedingshed has also had a presence on twitter.
